The internet is my life… well, not completely as my family is definitely more imortant but since I got my first dial up internet connection, I was addicted to the web. After an internship at IBM in Germany, I started to study Computer Science and Business Administration (Wirtschaftsinformatik) at the University of Furtwangen, Germany, and completed these studies in 2004. In between, I found myself living one year in Vancouver, Canada, successfully graduating with an Management of Innovation MBA from Simon Fraser University. I love Munich, my ‘German’ town of choice and therefore I spent all my internships at startups and other companies there. Among those was the Powderhausen AG, for which I created some early mobile WAP pages for snowboarders (Weather Information, etc.)
My first job took me to Vodafone R&D in Munich where I spent around two years. During this time, I was able to gain a broad understanding of the mobile business and technologies; moreover I made contacts with excellent people in this ’small’ but lively industry. Among my tasks were to create demos and trials for R&D conferences as well as to participate in Java Community Process Meetings (for various mobile specifications). During that time, I had first contact with the Bay Area.
Having worked a lot in a large company took me to Actionality, a small mobile advertisement startup with German offices in Berlin and Munich. I worked there for less than one year till Yahoo, Inc. decided to buy the company and we were made an offer to transfer to the US. So now I am here, working in Sunnyvale for all kinds of mobile stuff.
